About The Position

Price Benowitz LLP is seeking an experienced Medical Malpractice Paralegal to join our growing Personal Injury Team team in Washington, DC. This role requires a paralegal with strong experience in case management involving both personal injury and medical malpractice matters. The ideal candidate will leverage their legal support skills and medical knowledge to manage complex cases from intake through trial preparation, while providing essential support to our attorneys and clients.

Requirements

  • Demonstrated case management experience in either personal injury and medical malpractice litigation.
  • 2+ years of legal experience as a paralegal, legal secretary, or legal assistant (medical malpractice background strongly preferred).
  • Strong ability to review and analyze medical records; nursing or healthcare background is a plus.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, Adobe Acrobat, and legal document management systems (e.g., iManage).
  • Excellent organizational, time management, and multitasking skills.
  • Strong communication skills and the ability to work collaboratively in a fast-paced environment.

Nice To Haves

  • Nursing or healthcare background (e.g., LPN, RN) highly valued.
  • BLS certification or familiarity with medical terminology a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Manage all phases of medical malpractice and personal injury cases, including intake, discovery, pre-trial preparation, and trial support.
  • Review, analyze, and summarize extensive medical records to identify key issues, preexisting conditions, and potential fraudulent charges.
  • Draft and prepare legal documents, correspondence, discovery responses, and pleadings.
  • Coordinate and schedule depositions, independent medical examinations, experts, and court hearings.
  • Maintain attorney calendars, track case deadlines, and manage case files in electronic document management systems.
  • Assist attorneys with trial preparation, including exhibits, witness coordination, and courtroom logistics.
  • Communicate with clients, opposing counsel, insurance adjusters, and court personnel in a professional and timely manner.
  • Perform legal research related to case law, statutes, and regulations in medical malpractice and personal injury matters.
