About The Position

POSITION SUMMARY: A Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) is responsible for providing basic medical attention to clients at Isaiah House and assessing their wellbeing as part of a larger medical team. Duties include checking vital signs, recording a patient’s medical history and assisting patients with hygiene.

Requirements

Valid LPN license.
Valid driver's license.
Self-motivated.
Availability to work some evening, overnight and/or weekend shift.
Good communication skills.
Ability to meet deadlines and stay on schedule.
Ability to enforce program requirements.
Problem solving abilities.
Basic computer skills.
Ability to complete and submit reports

Responsibilities

Maintain confidentiality and comply with company, state, federal and HIPAA rules and regulations
Knowledge of addictions and mental health complications.
Knowledge and competency in problem solving, stress management, ethics and team building.
Knowledge of alcohol and other drugs that includes: Alcohol and addictive drugs and their physical, emotional, intellectual and spiritual impact on the individual and their family.
Ability to determine if a medical emergency exists and to take appropriate action, when necessary.
Knowledge of emergency procedures used in case of alcohol and/or drug overdose.
Knowledge of the stages of alcohol and other drug withdrawals and ability to take appropriate action at each stage.
Take vitals.
Administer medication to clients as directed.
Charting for insurance purposes.
Maintain a positive, professional attitude toward residents, staff and volunteers.
Handle crisis situations in a calm supportive manner.
Complete drug screening.
Create a safe and healthy environment for clients.
Comply with random employee drug screening.
Adheres to Isaiah House policies and procedures.
Attends mandatory in-services and other training/educational programs as required.
