About The Position

Medical Laboratory Technologist (Clinical Laboratory Scientist) Position Overview We are seeking qualified and dedicated Medical Technologists (MTs) / Clinical Laboratory Scientists (CLSs) to join our clinical laboratory team. The ideal candidate will be a certified generalist capable of performing testing across all areas of the laboratory, ensuring accurate and timely results that support high-quality patient care. Work Schedule VA Business Hours: Monday – Friday, 8:00 AM – 4:30 PM. Regular Shifts Available: 3:30 AM – 12:00 PM (Monday – Friday, including weekends) 7:30 AM – 4:00 PM (Monday – Friday, including weekends) 10:00 AM – 6:30 PM (Monday – Friday, including weekends) Second Shift: 3:30 PM – 12:00 Midnight (Monday – Friday, including weekends)

Requirements

  • Certification: Must hold active certification as an MT, MLS, or CLS through the American Society of Clinical Pathologists (ASCP) or American Medical Technologists (AMT), or an equivalent certification.
  • Education: Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university in Medical Laboratory Science, Medical Technology, Clinical Laboratory Science, or a related science field.
  • Training: Successful completion of a medical technology clinical practice program.
  • Experience: Minimum of one (1) year of professional experience as a Generalist.
  • Generalist is defined as the ability to perform diagnostic testing in all major laboratory areas, including Chemistry, Blood Bank, Hematology, Microbiology, Immunology, and Urinalysis.
  • Licenses & Permits: Must maintain all valid licenses, permits, and certifications as required by law and contract.
  • Strong knowledge of clinical laboratory science principles, practices, and techniques.
  • Ability to work independently as well as part of a team in a fast-paced environment.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent attention to detail and organizational skills.
  • Commitment to maintaining confidentiality and adhering to HIPAA and laboratory compliance standards.

Responsibilities

  • Perform clinical laboratory testing across multiple disciplines with accuracy and efficiency.
  • Operate, maintain, and troubleshoot laboratory equipment and instruments.
  • Analyze and interpret results, ensuring compliance with established quality standards.
  • Follow laboratory safety protocols and regulatory guidelines.
  • Collaborate with healthcare providers to support diagnostic and treatment decisions.
  • Maintain accurate documentation and reporting in compliance with facility and federal standards.
