About The Position

The Medical Laboratory Technologist position at the University Health Services is responsible for performing various laboratory tests in urinalysis, hematology, chemistry, immunology, and bacteriology as ordered by medical practitioners. This role involves overseeing daily laboratory operations, interpreting test results, performing phlebotomy, and maintaining lab equipment. The technologist will also handle administrative tasks related to laboratory information systems and ensure compliance with health regulations.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Medical Technology;
• Bachelor's degree in Chemical or Microbiology plus one year of clinical laboratory experience;
• Two years of experience equivalent to a Medical Laboratory Technician 2 in a clinical laboratory.

Nice To Haves

• Certified MLS/MT/MLT through ASCP or AMT.
• Two years' experience as a generalist in an accredited clinical laboratory.
• Experience with Orchard Laboratory Information System.
• Experience in phlebotomy.

Responsibilities

• Perform laboratory tests in urinalysis, hematology, chemistry, immunology, and bacteriology.
• Oversee routine day-to-day operations of the laboratory.
• Input and retrieve data from the lab computer system.
• Interpret test results and make recommendations.
• Perform phlebotomy and collect other specimens.
• Instruct patients as needed.
• Assist in the maintenance of lab equipment.
• Handle administrative duties such as uploading and troubleshooting Lab LIS information.
