AMERICAN HEALTH ASSOCIATES (AHA) is a premier long-term care clinical laboratory, servicing over 4500 facilities and one of the fastest growing independent labs in the nation. The Medical Laboratory Technician (MLT) role involves performing a full range of laboratory testing and reporting findings to physicians. AHA's MLT must meet personnel responsibilities per CLIA Sec. 493.1495, including following procedures for specimen handling, processing, test analyses, reporting, and maintaining records. They are also responsible for demonstrating proficiency testing, adhering to quality control policies, documenting activities, and performing calibrations and maintenance. The MLT must identify and correct problems affecting test performance or notify supervisors, documenting all corrective actions. They apply principles, theory, and techniques of laboratory medicine to produce and report appropriate results, perform and interpret Quality Control data, and participate in continuing education.
