About The Position

Bestica is seeking a Medical Laboratory Technician to work at Brook Army Medical Center in San Antonio, TX. SCOPE: Perform qualitative and quantitative testing in a high complexity clinical laboratory and moderate complexity for the chemistry section using various analyzers and/or manual methods on specimen sources such as blood, urine, and other body fluids using established procedures. Organizing work by matching computer orders with specimen labeling; sorting specimens; checking labeling; logging specimens. Arranging reports for delivery; keeping work surface clean and orderly in accordance to local protocol. Requirements

Possessing a current license issued by the state in which the laboratory is located, if such licensing is required.
Meeting one of the following educational and training criteria:
Having earned an associate degree or higher degree in a laboratory science or medical laboratory technology from an accredited institution, or having education and training equivalent to that specified in paragraph (b)(2)(i) that includes:
At least 60 semester hours from an accredited institution, including specific coursework in medical laboratory technology or science courses.
Laboratory training that includes completion of a clinical laboratory training program approved or accredited by recognized organizations, or at least 3 months documented laboratory training in each specialty in which the individual performs high complexity testing.
Certification by the American Society for Clinical Pathology (ASCP) or American Medical Technologists (AMT) (must be active)
One year of experience as a Medical Laboratory Technician within the last 2 years.
Basic Life Support Card by American Heart Association
