About The Position

Bestica is seeking a Medical Laboratory Technician to work at Brook Army Medical Center in San Antonio, TX. SCOPE: Perform qualitative and quantitative testing in a high complexity clinical laboratory and moderate complexity for the chemistry section using various analyzers and/or manual methods on specimen sources such as blood, urine, and other body fluids using established procedures. Organizing work by matching computer orders with specimen labeling; sorting specimens; checking labeling; logging specimens. Arranging reports for delivery; keeping work surface clean and orderly in accordance to local protocol. Requirements

  • Possessing a current license issued by the state in which the laboratory is located, if such licensing is required.
  • Meeting one of the following educational and training criteria:
  • Having earned an associate degree or higher degree in a laboratory science or medical laboratory technology from an accredited institution, or having education and training equivalent to that specified in paragraph (b)(2)(i) that includes:
  • At least 60 semester hours from an accredited institution, including specific coursework in medical laboratory technology or science courses.
  • Laboratory training that includes completion of a clinical laboratory training program approved or accredited by recognized organizations, or at least 3 months documented laboratory training in each specialty in which the individual performs high complexity testing.
  • Certification by the American Society for Clinical Pathology (ASCP) or American Medical Technologists (AMT) (must be active)
  • One year of experience as a Medical Laboratory Technician within the last 2 years.
  • Basic Life Support Card by American Heart Association
