About The Position

To perform laboratory testing for WCHS laboratory. Under the direct supervision of the Laboratory Manager, the MT/MLT provides technical support by performing analyses, tests, and procedures that assist in the prevention, diagnosis, or treatment of diseases. Accessioning/ ordering tests in the Laboratory Information Systems (LIS) and processing specimens with referral to the reference laboratories. Operates, maintains, and calibrates the equipment used to ensure it is operating efficiently and providing accurate results Performs basic troubleshooting as needed Maintain documentation according to regulatory agencies and write laboratory policies and procedures. Exposure to infectious clinical specimens on a regular basis, so adherence to sterilization and infection control procedures is required. This position is responsible for using his/her skill, accuracy, proficiency and dedication to work in all laboratory sections performing analytical testing on patient's specimens. Candidate must demonstrate excellent customer service skills. Duties listed are only an illustration of various types of work performed. Requirements

Medical Laboratory Technician – Must have graduated from an approved school of Medical Technology/Laboratory Science with an associate’s degree and be certified/registered by one of the following agencies: MLT(ASCP), MLT(AMT), CLT(NCA).
Medical Technologist – Must have graduated from an approved school of Medical Technology/Laboratory Science with a bachelor’s degree and be certified/registered by one of the following agencies: MT(ASCP), MT(AMT), CLS(NCA).
Minimum of one year of experience preferred.
Knowledge of hospital laboratory practices, including infection control requirements, chemical and biological hazards.
Knowledge of governmental and regulating policies and standards.
Competency in specimen acquisition
Must possess the ability to read, write, and speak the English language fluently.
Must be able to continually and effectively employ professional verbal and written communications skills.
