About The Position

GENERAL OVERVIEW: Performs routine and high complex laboratory analyses on clinical specimens. Assists lab management with the daily operations of the department.

Requirements

  • Minimum Associate’s degree in an ASCP eligible program or equivalent.
  • Meets ongoing education requirements for certification.
  • MLT(ASCP) or equivalent
  • 3 to 5 years of clinical laboratory experience.

Responsibilities

  • Performs a variety of routine and complex procedures using established criteria to provide quality clinical information. Verifies analytic accuracy, precision, sensitivity, and linearity for test methods. (40%)
  • Operates, calibrates, checks and maintains instrumentation. Troubleshoots problems with quality controls and test procedures and takes appropriate action to ensure quality clinical information. (25%)
  • Communicates with manager, supervisor or co-workers concerning the needs of the laboratory including supplies for efficient laboratory operations. (15%)
  • Serves as a consultant to laboratory personnel and other health care providers, as needed. Participates in continuing education to ensure growth and development of the laboratory. (10%)
  • May collect and process patient specimens in accordance with laboratory policies and procedures and within the expected time frames. (5%)
  • May mentor MT/MLT, phlebotomy, and lab processor students and new employees in laboratory testing following AHN policies and procedures. (5%)
  • Performs other duties as assigned or required.
