As a Medical Laboratory Technician (MLT) in the Parasitology department at IDEXX, you will be a key contributor at one of the largest veterinary diagnostic companies in the world. You will perform laboratory testing that helps veterinarians diagnose and treat pets. Requirements

  • Possess a High School diploma or equivalent combination of education and experience
  • Able to work with and around fecal sample (with provided PPE)
  • Have experience working 3rd shift or overnight shifts
  • Able to work in a high volume, fast paced laboratory
  • Have a positive attitude and love to bring that energy into the lab every day to support your colleagues

  • Able to meet the physical requirements that go with working in a lab – standing and sitting for extended periods of time, phone & computer use, extended reach, lifting up to 50lb, and specific vision ability – close, color, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus

Nice To Haves

  • A 2-, 3- or 4-year degree in a Science-related field
  • Experience as a Veterinary Technician (RVT, LVT, CVT) or Medical Laboratory Technician (MLT or MT)
  • Experience setting up, running, and reading lab tests, and operating laboratory equipment (microscopes, pipetting and/or clinical diagnostic analyzers)

Responsibilities

  • Using automated analyzers, microscopes, and other laboratory diagnostic tools to perform analyses and tests that diagnose animal illnesses, injuries, and diseases in support of veterinarian animal treatment
  • Performing diagnostic tests on blood, urine, fecal, or pet biopsy samples that we receive in our lab by the thousands, every day
  • Setting up and running lab tests and reading and releasing results according to SOPs (Standard Operating Procedures)
  • Examining samples to identify parasites, utilizing fecal flotation and various microscopic techniques
  • Working with and around fecal sample (with provided PPE)
  • Preparing samples to go onto our analyzers
  • Meeting reliable and dependable attendance
