We are recruiting for the following position: Sea Mar is a mandatory COVID-19 and flu vaccine organization Position Summary Follows established procedures for collecting and processing biological specimen for analysis. The MLT works under the supervision of Clinical Laboratory Technologist (Admin Lab Director). Is responsible for performing phlebotomy, diagnostic laboratory tests, r-ray procedures (after DOH WA State certified), and electrocardiograms- spirometry (after training) to assist in diagnosing and treating patient’s diseases and conditions. Recognizes unexpected results and instrument malfunction and takes appropriate action. Be able to analyze the situation and problem solving. Proper handling specimen, QC, test procedures performance. Proper reporting of patient tests in accordance to the lab policies. Work closely with the providers, nursing staff and other clinic personnel to ensure the smooth running of the department and clinic at large. Job Description ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES General Clinical Lab Follows Universal Precautions against biohazard contamination during blood drawing, handling, processing, storage, and transportation of body fluids using the Protective Personal Equipment (PPE). Observe and follow the OSHA safety and the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act of 1996 (HIPAA Privacy) regulations. Record temperatures and equipment maintenance. Run and record controls on the Hematology and Urinalysis analyzers every day. Run and record controls for waived test per manufacturers’ instructions. Conduct and analyze laboratory tests, ordered by a licensed provider, that aid in the detection, diagnosis and treatment of disease. Analyze results for accuracy and relay them to providers. Use microscope for testing Wet Mount, KOH and Urine sediment and communicate findings to providers. Needs good analytical judgment and the ability to work under pressure. Close attention to detail is essential. Track and file patient results from outside lab reports (Reference, State Lab, etc) Track in-house test results at the end of the day. Restock reagents and supplies; lab inventory and discard any expired reagent. Responsible for corrective action and documentation. Correlate test results with patient conditions/diagnosis. Disinfect counters and dispose of biohazard waste. Shutting down the lab (turning off machines, completing paperwork, bagging specimens for shipping) Assist support personnel by continuing to work after 5:00 PM and assisting them during the day when necessary. X-ray when necessary: Turn on X-ray machine and document equipment maintenance. Perform provider ordered x-ray procedures established by manufacturer’s instructions using the protective equipment. Document in log book keeping patient’s testing records and tracking results in daily basis. Distribute X-ray reports to the appropriate providers. EKG: Prepares room for the patient. Prepares the patient with cape, drape sheet or other supplies needed to maintain modesty and dignity. Applies electrodes, operates EKG machine according to manufacturer’s instructions to obtain proper tracings. Identifies patient by name and DOB and register in the monitor. Labels tracing as required and consults with provider if any unusual circumstances affect the test. Responsible for the maintenance and storage of the equipment. Responsible to work with the manufacturer for equipment troubleshooting. Spirometry: Run the calibration of the equipment every 24 hrs or day of use. Prepare the patient and testing following the manufactures’ instruction and laboratory Policies and Procedure Manual. Report accurate results to a licensed provider. Responsible for the maintenance and storage of the equipment. Responsible to work with the manufacturer for the troubleshooting of the equipment.

Requirements

  • Associate’s degree in biology, chemistry, clinical laboratory or physical science. Or through at least 50 weeks of training conducted in military laboratory settings as Medical Lab Tech.
  • US Certification/license is required.
  • Employee improvement by continuing education on their own.
  • Pre-hire and annual employee health screening required
  • Annual influenza vaccine required. Only exception is for employees with a medical or religious exemption approved by Administration. Employees with an approved medical or religious exemption must wear a mask at all time during the flu season.
