MLT/MLS UnityPoint Health - Allen Hospital Shift: 2nd shift, fill in nights; weekend and holiday rotation Benefits eligible Potential $5,000 sign-on bonus paid out over 1 year Medical Laboratory Technicians/Medical Lab Scientists are responsible for performing laboratory tests and analyses in the hematology, blood bank, special chemistry, chemistry, and microbiology departments in the laboratory. Requirements

  • MLT - Education: Associate degree in lab science or medical laboratory technology from an accredited institution or Qualify as Testing Personnel under Federal Register Sec 493.1489
  • Licensure/Certification: MLT/CLA-ASCP (non regulatory) - Must present record of certification to the Laboratory Director within 1 year of employment
  • Valid driver’s license when driving any vehicle for work-related reasons.
  • MLS - Education: Bachelor’s degree in chemical, physical, biological or clinical laboratory science or medical technology degree from an accredited institution or Qualify as Testing Personnel under Federal Register Sec 493.1489(b)(2) & General Supervisor under Federal Register Sec 493.1461
  • Licensure/Certification: MT (ASCP), MLS(ASCP) (non regulatory)
  • Valid driver’s license when driving any vehicle for work-related reasons.

Responsibilities

  • Performs routine lab testing in hematology, blood bank, special chemistry, chemistry and microbiology departments following proper laboratory procedure and follow up of critical lab values
  • Performs and verifies quality control and instrument maintenance and troubleshooting
  • Collects, receives and processes laboratory samples and send outs following proper laboratory procedures
