About The Position

The Medical Laboratory Technician, Limited services is responsible for performing moderate and waived complexity testing in a limited services laboratory area to aid physicians and clinical care teams in the diagnosis and treatment of the patient.

Requirements

Associate's Degree from a NAACLS accredited Medical Lab Technician (MLT) program.
Must be eligible for certification as a Medical Laboratory Technician (MLT) by the American Society of Clinical Pathology (ASCP).

Responsibilities

Responsible for performing laboratory procedures to obtain data for diagnosis and treatment of disease or disease processes
Performs diagnostic testing for interpretation or therapeutic intervention as requested
Performs phlebotomy to obtain blood samples for diagnostic testing
Completes all testing within the established time frame to aid in the treatment of the patient
Ensures quality control in processing specimens, ensure appropriate sampling and maintain accurate record keeping
Verifies equipment function through routine equipment maintenance and advanced trouble shooting; calibrates equipment utilizing approved testing procedures
Complies with all laboratory policies and regulations related to safety, cleanliness and infection control
Communicates patient and health care information to the appropriate health care provider
Identifies and communicates abnormal patient conditions by alerting supervisory personnel or health care provider
Reports all critical tests and critical results to the appropriate health care provider in a timely manner
