Medical Laboratory Technician Instructor
About The Position
Alexandria College is seeking an in‑person Temporary Part-Time (TPT) Medical Laboratory Technician (MLT) Instructor to teach theory and laboratory courses within our NAACLS‑accredited Medical Laboratory Technician program, which is recognized for its exceptional quality, 100% job placement, and 100% ASCP Board of Certification (BOC) exam pass rates. The ideal candidate is committed to student success, skilled in hands‑on instruction, and enthusiastic about educating the next generation of healthcare laboratory professionals. Although the official appointment begins at the start of the fall semester, the selected candidate will be expected to complete required training and orientation activities during the summer.
Requirements
- Applicants must have two full-time years (or equivalent) of verified related paid work experience as a medical laboratory technologist/scientist. One year of this work experience shall be within the five years immediately preceding the date of application for the credential field. The recency requirement shall be waived if the individual has two years of successful full-time (or equivalent) postsecondary teaching experience in the credential field within the last five years.
- Medical Laboratory Technologist/Scientist certification by one of the following: American Society for Clinical Pathology (ASCP), AAB Board of Registry (ABOR), or American Medical Technologists (AMT).
- Minimum requirement of Bachelor’s degree in Medical Laboratory Science or related field and experience in teaching or mentoring.

Responsibilities
- Teach assigned didactic and laboratory courses in the MLT curriculum, which include Hematology, Microbiology, Diagnostic Chemistry, Immunology, Biological Fluids, and Phlebotomy.
- Deliver high quality instruction through in person lectures, online learning platform, and lab demonstrations, with active learning strategies.
- Develop course materials, assessments, and lab activities aligned with program competencies and NAACLS accreditation standards.
- Evaluate student performance in both theory and lab, providing timely feedback.
- Ensure compliance with institutional, departmental, and accreditation requirements.
- Participate in required orientation, professional development and college-related work.
