About The Position

UnityPoint-St Luke's Hospital is seeking a full-time laboratory technician to perform clinical tests and procedures in one or more functional sections of the laboratory. The position requires maintaining records of performance as defined by the laboratory's administrative and sectional standard operating procedures, performing and recording quality control on equipment, and adhering to CAP, CLIA, HIPAA, and DNV guidelines and standards. The role involves working three 12-hour night shifts from 8 PM to 8 AM, with every third weekend off. A sign-on bonus of $5,000 is available for qualified applicants.

Requirements

  • Graduate of accredited MLT Program
  • Writes, reads, comprehends and speaks fluent English

Responsibilities

  • Demonstrates technical and operational expertise
  • Interprets quality control results and instrument function
  • Completes scheduled preventive maintenance duties
  • Provides assistance and guidance involving repairs, validations, and function checks
  • Organizes, prioritizes, executes and interprets workload
  • Actively assists coworkers with interpretations and troubleshooting and possible follow-up corrective action
  • Participates in quality assurance (QA) and attends QA laboratory meetings as requested
  • Assists and monitors necessary supplies and kit availability for patient testing
  • Provides operational training for coworkers involving manual, automated, and organizational skills for patient testing
  • Be available and help Phlebotomy services draw blood from patients in the Out-Patient area located in the laboratory
  • Practices good communication skills with internal and external customers
  • Organizes and adapts to changes in workflow due to instrumentation or computer downtimes
  • Assures patient care in unusual conditions/conflicts is not compromised
