About The Position

The Medical Laboratory Scientist (MLS) position at Miller-Keystone Blood Center involves working in a renowned Blood Bank, providing essential laboratory services to regional hospitals. The role requires performing complex laboratory tests, ensuring quality control, and offering consultation and transfusion recommendations. This position is available in both night and evening shifts, with specific on-call requirements.

Requirements

• Bachelor's Degree in clinical, biological, physical and/or chemical laboratory science.
• MLS, BB or SBB certification preferred.
• 2 years of Blood Bank experience preferred, performing ABO typing, antibody screening and crossmatch.

Nice To Haves

• Associate's Degree with Medical Laboratory Technician (MLT) certification and applicable experience.

Responsibilities

• Perform routine through complex red cell antibody identification and resolution.
• Conduct antigen typing, hemoglobin S testing, and procurement of special and rare units.
• Perform platelet antibody screening and cross-matching.
• Provide written reports and verbal consultation to hospitals, including transfusion recommendations.
• Responsible for quality control and equipment maintenance.
• Train staff and evaluate equipment and assay validation.
