About The Position

Mosaic Life Care is a health care system in northwest Missouri. This position is for a Medical Laboratory Scientist (MLS) in the Lab Micro department, working on a PRN status with variable shifts. The pay range for this position is $27.30 - $40.95 per hour. The MLS will perform testing in Blood Bank, Chemistry, Coagulation, Hematology, and Urinalysis, utilizing critical thinking to evaluate results and ensuring excellent customer service to patients and caregivers.

Requirements

• Bachelor's Degree with a four-year college science degree, and/or including training in an approved clinical laboratory training program is required.
• ASCP - Medical Technologist ASCP or AMT is required.
• MLS - Medical Lab Scientist (Formally Mt Certification) is required.
• No previous experience required; eight to ten week in-house orientation and training period is required.

Responsibilities

• Perform laboratory tests and quality control testing, adhering to laboratory standard operating procedures and policies.
• Perform laboratory computer operations to request laboratory tests, access patient results, and enter patient results.
• Process patient workload accurately and efficiently, sending specimens to reference lab as needed for testing.
• Perform instrument trouble-shooting and preventative maintenance on instruments and equipment according to established schedules and procedures.
• Complete competency testing as given by Laboratory Management.
• Answer telephones and tube system, direct calls, test requests, give phone reports, fax reports as needed, and provide excellent customer service.
• Communicate effectively with providers and caregivers while maintaining patient and staff confidentiality.
• Other duties as assigned.
