Cooley Dickinson's VNA & Hospice is also a vital part of our network, providing home-based services throughout Hampshire and Franklin counties. This is a full-time (37.5 hours/week) day shift position, located onsite at 30 Locust Street, Northampton, MA. The Medical Laboratory Scientist II plays a critical role in our laboratory's Chemistry section. Under the general supervision of the Laboratory Manager, the MLS II performs and oversees complex testing and analyses used in the diagnosis and treatment of disease. This role will be instrumental in assisting with method validations, inventory management, QC review, and staff training, while also functioning as Testing Personnel and, when assigned, as General Supervisor as defined by CLIA regulations.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree in Medical Technology or Laboratory Sciences required
  • Certificate/Diploma in Clinical Laboratory Sciences required
  • 1-2 years of clinical laboratory experience required
  • Proficient in laboratory equipment operation, maintenance, repair, and analytical techniques
  • Demonstrated ability to work independently, assess situations, and respond appropriately
  • Skilled at multitasking in a fast-paced environment while maintaining accuracy
  • Strong attention to detail and adherence to SOPs and regulatory protocols
  • Proactive in identifying and communicating issues to supervisors
  • Effective team player with strong interpersonal and communication skills
  • Ability to interact professionally with a wide range of personnel, including physicians, hospital staff, and patients
  • Working knowledge of CLIA, CAP, and other applicable federal, state, and accreditation requirements
  • Willingness to assist with: Inventory control, Implementation of new QC materials, Participation in method validations and instrument verification as needed

Nice To Haves

  • Medical Technologist (ASCP) certification preferred
  • Chemistry section experience strongly preferred
