About The Position

Responsible for performing and reporting tests of all complexity levels, as defined by Clinical Laboratory Improvement Amendments (CLIA), on patients of all ages to assist with the routine screening, diagnosis, treatment and management of diseases and injuries. Analyze tests in areas including chemistry, hematology, clinical microscopy, urinalysis, molecular testing and blood banking. Interpret and correlate test results with disease states and theoretical knowledge, exhibit problem solving skills of a highly complex nature, participate in Quality Assurance, Quality Control monitoring, instrumentation maintenance and troubleshooting. May be required to perform phlebotomy and specimen processing duties and will participate in research, development, education, and technical consultation.

Requirements

  • This position requires a Bachelor’s degree or equivalent in Medical Laboratory Science or a related field and 3 years of related experience.
  • Must also have 24 months of experience with each of the following: 1) Performing high complexity testing on patient specimens using both manual methods and automated analyzers in all the sections of the laboratory. 2) Performing specimen collection, identification process and procedures to facilitate simple to complex diagnostic tests. 3) Executing and analyzing tests in areas including Chemistry, Hematology, Clinical Microscopy, Urinalysis, Molecular Testing and Blood banking. 4) Participating in Quality Assurance, Quality control monitoring, instrumentation maintenance and troubleshooting.
  • Must possess certification as a Medical Laboratory Scientist (ASCP), Medical Technologist (ASCP), or Clinical Laboratory Scientist (NCA).
