About The Position

1. Demonstrates proficiency and follows testing procedures and policies by adherence to quality assurance guidelines for equipment and work area, documenting corrective action to any non-conforming event. 2. Prepares reagents, maintains an adequate supply of materials for test procedures and manages inventory to effectively reduce departmental waste/expense. 3. Exercises clinical judgment in assessing priorities while identifying, problem solving and offering solutions to test systems through the appropriate department channels, i.e. contacts hotline to troubleshoot with a specialist when necessary to resolve the issue or set-up service when appropriate. 4. Assists with review and revision of procedures and documentation related to accreditation, adhering to all regulatory requirements for various authorities, including but not limited to CAP, TJC, OSHA. 5. Maintains clear, real time communications shift-to-shift and with leadership regarding issues, concerns and problems which may affect patient care or the operation of the department. 6. Participates in planning and implementing change through participation in staff meetings, task forces or projects. 7. Participates in competency assessment program, where qualified. 8. Other relevant duties as assigned Qualifications Minimum Qualifications: High school diploma or equivalent required Documented training as defined in the CLIA regulation 42CFR493.1489(b) Non-degree semester hours in medical technology, clinical laboratory, chemical, physical, or biological science will be evaluated as defined in the CLIA regulation 42CFR493.1489(b) required ASCP eligible required Bachelor's degree in chemical, physical or biological science or medical laboratory technology/ medical or clinical laboratory science preferred Associate’s degree in chemical, physical or biological science or medical laboratory technology/ medical or clinical laboratory science and experience as defined in the CLIA regulation 42CFR493.1489(b) preferred If major is not specified on diploma, transcript required If foreign degree, foreign equivalency documents required Minimum 2 years Blood Bank experience preferred, if applicable New MLS/ CLS/ MLT/ AAS graduates welcome!
