About The Position

Sanford Health is one of the largest and fastest-growing not-for-profit health systems in the United States. This position is responsible for the pre-analytical, analytical, and post-analytical phases of laboratory testing. The role requires adherence to standard operating procedures and ensures laboratory safety, quality, and regulatory requirements are met. The individual will process lab specimens, perform clinical laboratory testing using both manual and automated methods, and demonstrate critical and independent judgment in decision-making and problem-solving. The position also involves assisting in training new staff and serving as a laboratory resource. The primary location is Eau Claire, with occasional travel to Chippewa and Neillsville for coverage as needed.

Requirements

  • For Medical Laboratory Technician: Associate's degree in Laboratory Science required.
  • For Medical Laboratory Technician: Possess a national certification for Medical Laboratory Technician (MLT) or Clinical Laboratory Technician (CLT) through an approved Health and Human Services (HHS) agency, for example American Society for Clinical Pathology (ASCP); or be registry eligible.
  • For Medical Laboratory Technician: Registry eligible candidates must successfully complete the Board of Registry examination within 12 months of employment.
  • For Medical Laboratory Technician: If working in North Dakota (ND), must be licensed or have a provisional license, by the ND Board of Clinical Laboratory Practice.
  • For Medical Laboratory Technician: Maintain continuing education credits equivalent to the state requirements as needed for license and certifications.
  • For Medical Laboratory Technician: May be required to have Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
  • For Medical Laboratory Technician: Valid driver's license required.
  • For Medical Laboratory Scientist: Bachelor's degree in laboratory or biological sciences required.
  • For Medical Laboratory Scientist: Possess a national certification for Medical Laboratory Scientist (MLS) through an approved Health and Human Services (HHS) agency, for example American Society for Clinical Pathology (ASCP) or be registry eligible.
  • For Medical Laboratory Scientist: Certification as a Medical Technologist (MT) also acceptable.
  • For Medical Laboratory Scientist: Registry eligible candidates must successfully complete the Board of Registry examination within 12 months of employment.
  • For Medical Laboratory Scientist: If working in North Dakota (ND), must be licensed by the ND Board of Clinical Laboratory Practice.
