About The Position

The position is located at 1301 Pennsylvania Ave. Fort. Worth, TX 76104, with work hours on the 1st shift from 6:30am to 3:00pm, including variable days, weekends, and holidays. Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree in Medical Technology, Applied Technology, Clinical Lab Science, or Chemical, Physical or Biological Science preferred.
  • Internship in an approved Medical Technician training program required.
  • 2 years’ experience in a Medical Laboratory preferred.
  • MLS (ASCP) Medical Lab Scientist certification required within 6 months after hire.
  • MT (ASCP) Medical Technologist certification required within 6 months after hire.
  • Strong positive interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to read, write and speak English clearly.
  • Problem solving ability and time management skills.
  • Organizational skills to function successfully in a fast-paced work environment.
  • Computer literate.

Nice To Haves

  • Previous microbiology experience preferred but not required.

Responsibilities

  • Evaluate and solve problems related to collection and/or processing of specimens to maintain specimen integrity.
  • Identify specimen conditions that adversely affect test results.
  • Facilitate workflow processes and check outstanding tests list in a timely manner.
  • Troubleshoot and follow through on outstanding tests.
  • Utilize computer downtime procedures as needed.
  • Notify when supplies need to be ordered and utilize time between testing for other tasks.
  • Participate in orientation and training of students, volunteers, new employees, and observers.
  • Maintain commitment to profession by attending continuing education sessions.
  • Complete assigned work within required time and assist coworkers.
  • Follow established laboratory test procedures and communicate relevant patient data.
  • Demonstrate understanding of quality control guidelines and resolve discrepancies.
  • Incorporate safety/infection control measures into work practices.
