About The Position

The position involves demonstrating proficiency in testing procedures and policies, adhering to quality assurance guidelines for equipment and work areas, and documenting corrective actions for any non-conforming events. Responsibilities include preparing reagents, maintaining an adequate supply of materials for test procedures, and managing inventory to effectively reduce departmental waste and expenses. The role requires exercising clinical judgment in assessing priorities, identifying problems, and offering solutions to test systems through appropriate departmental channels. Additionally, the position involves assisting with the review and revision of procedures and documentation related to accreditation, adhering to all regulatory requirements for various authorities, including CAP, TJC, and OSHA. Clear, real-time communication with leadership regarding issues that may affect patient care or departmental operations is essential. Participation in planning and implementing changes through staff meetings, task forces, or projects is also required, along with involvement in a competency assessment program where qualified. Other relevant duties may be assigned as needed.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • Documented training as defined in the CLIA regulation 42CFR493.1489(b) required.
  • Non-degree semester hours in medical technology, clinical laboratory, chemical, physical, or biological science will be evaluated as defined in the CLIA regulation 42CFR493.1489(b) required.
  • ASCP eligible required.
  • Bachelor's degree in chemical, physical or biological science or medical laboratory technology/ medical or clinical laboratory science preferred.
  • Associate's degree in chemical, physical or biological science or medical laboratory technology/ medical or clinical laboratory science and experience as defined in the CLIA regulation 42CFR493.1489(b) preferred.
  • If major is not specified on diploma, transcript required.
  • If foreign degree, foreign equivalency documents required.
  • Minimum 2 years Blood Bank experience preferred, if applicable.
  • New MLS/ CLS/ MLT/ AAS graduates welcome!
