About The Position

Responsible for accurately performs routine and special laboratory tests according to procedure manuals and records their results; evaluates test results, including normal and abnormal results which require notification, documentation, and/or verification. Evaluates results for clinical significance, validity and appropriateness. Follows prescribed policy in the reporting and notification of test results. Performs and documents calibration, maintenance and repair of instruments and equipment. Recognizes indicators of test and/or instrument malfunction; evaluates and implements appropriate corrections. Performs, documents and reviews quality control and quality assurance for improvement according to established protocol. Evaluates quality control results and takes corrective action when indicated. Performs internal and external proficiency testing in the same manner as patient samples Performs specialty testing in areas including chemistry, hematology, coagulation. Supports the disease specific accreditations of an institution by meeting turn- around time goals.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree/ Associate degree in a clinical laboratory science or medical technology program from and accredited
  • Current MLS/MT (ASCP) registration or equivalent
  • Minimum of one years of laboratory experience in high/Moderate complexity testing

  • Able to solve technical and interdepartmental problems related to the various Laboratory areas.
  • Capable of identifying problems that may adversely affect test performance or reporting of results, and she/he takes corrective action or notifies appropriate supervisory personnel.
  • Good communication and organizational skills.
  • Ability to work cooperatively with others and inspire their cooperation
