Requirements

  • ASCP certification required.
  • One year of full-time experience or training in a clinical laboratory setting.

  • Minimum of 3 years clinical experience with the most current year in the present department.

Responsibilities

  • Perform test procedures of moderate/high complexity requiring independent judgment and responsibility.
  • Support the department in quality control, troubleshooting, customer support, and instrument maintenance.
  • Perform and report on assigned analytical tests in accordance with Standard Operating Procedures (SOP).
  • Ensure compliance with laboratory policies for specimen handling, test analysis, and reporting.
  • Maintain analytical schedules to ensure timely results, including critical results to clients.
  • Document quality control analysis to ensure accuracy of clinical data and proper instrument function.
  • Inform supervisory personnel of any problems with test procedures.
  • Enter test results into the Laboratory Information System for physician review.
  • Maintain laboratory areas and equipment in a safe and sanitary condition.
  • Complete training and competency checklists as appropriate.
  • Assist supervisor with training of other laboratory personnel.
  • Adhere to established CLIA, HIPAA, OSHA, and laboratory safety requirements.
