About The Position

The Medical Laboratory Scientist II position in Bangor, ME involves performing test procedures of moderate to high complexity, requiring independent judgment and responsibility in various specialties. The role includes ensuring compliance with laboratory policies and procedures, maintaining quality control, and supporting departmental operations. The position operates on a rotating schedule from 19:00 to 07:00, including weekends. Candidates will be responsible for reporting analytical tests, maintaining laboratory equipment, and adhering to safety regulations.

Requirements

  • One (1) year full-time experience or training in a clinical laboratory setting with high complexity testing.
  • BS/BA in Medical Technology, Chemistry, or Biology, or an Associate's degree in a Laboratory Science or Medical Technology.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, and Outlook) and Laboratory Information Systems.

Nice To Haves

  • Minimum of 3 years clinical experience with the most current year in the present department.
  • ASCP Certification.

Responsibilities

  • Perform and report on assigned analytical tests in accordance with applicable Standard Operating Procedures (SOP).
  • Ensure that applicable quality control requirements are met.
  • Support the department in quality control, troubleshooting, customer support, and process improvement.
  • Enter test results into the Laboratory Information System for standardized reporting.
  • Maintain laboratory areas and equipment in a safe, functional, and sanitary condition.
  • Complete training and competency checklists as appropriate.
  • Assist supervisor with training of other laboratory personnel.
  • Participate in government or regulatory agency inspections as needed.
