About The Position

The Medical Laboratory Courier position involves transporting laboratory specimens, reports, and supplies between various medical facilities and laboratories within Washington State. The role requires vigilance in handling biohazardous materials and maintaining accurate records of transportation activities. Couriers will work on assigned routes and may need to accommodate additional service requests during their shifts.

Requirements

• Possession of a valid vehicle operator's license.

Responsibilities

• Drives a university vehicle to transport laboratory specimens, reports, supplies, and other materials between UWMC and medical facilities.
• Works with biohazardous specimens and must be vigilant about exposure risks.
• Transports lab supplies and related materials to client locations as needed.
• Performs assigned route and maintains accurate records of route stops and specimens transported.
• Keeps the assigned University vehicle clean and fuel tank filled according to protocol.
• Teaches and demonstrates tasks to trainees as assigned.
