We are currently seeking an experienced Medical Laboratory Assistant. In this position, you will provide technical support for the Pathologists’ clinical activities. This is an exciting opportunity for those seeking to grow their professional careers in pathology.

Requirements

  • 2-4 years experience in a clinical laboratory as a Laboratory Technician, Laboratory Assistant or related job
  • High School Diploma/GED
  • Eager to learn
  • Strong attention to detail
  • Great communication
  • Works well with a team
  • Medical Terminology

Responsibilities

  • Review requisitions, consents, and order entry orders to verify the accuracy of corresponding specimens, and enter required data into the computer
  • Prepare and triage specimens for testing or send out to another laboratory for testing using the laboratory computer system
  • Clear and prompt communication with ordering genetic counselor, clinical teams, lab technologists, and attendings
  • Extraction and transcription patient and familial cancer history
  • Maintain a complete, accurate, and organized file system, requisitions, and reference laboratories’ results according to laboratory guidelines
  • Contribute to the upkeep and safety of the laboratory and assure a clean, safe, adequately supplied work area
