The N.C. Department of Agriculture and Consumer Services provides services that promote and improve agriculture, agribusiness, and forests; protect consumers and businesses; and conserve farmland and natural resources for the prosperity of all North Carolinians. The Department employs approximately 2,000 employees. The NCVDLS provides veterinarians, the animal industry, and the citizens of North Carolina with accurate and timely laboratory support services to diagnose, conduct surveillance, and assist in responding to and preventing animal disease. Both protection of public health and the food supply are important components of this mission. Duties include shipping and receiving, autoclaving laboratory waste, glassware washing, computer data entry of submissions and client information into the Laboratory Information Management System (LIMS), stockroom ordering, and serve as backup for purchasing officer.
