Job Purpose: Responsible for the specimen collecting; processing; test performance, and reporting test results. This includes the preanalytical, analytic, and post analytic phases of testing. Must be able to demonstrate the knowledge and skills necessary to provide care appropriate to the age of the patient served; Neonate, Infant, Pediatric, Adolescent, Adult, Geriatric.

Requirements

AS in MLT, or BS in MLS
Minimum 2 years experience preferred
Excellent customer relations skills.
Excellent verbal and written communications skills.

Responsibilities

Patient collecting duties and patient testing per protocols/procedures
Demonstrates competence in all procedures required by a Medical Technologist
Follows the laboratory's procedure for specimen handling and processing, test analysis, reporting, and maintaining records of patient test results
Maintain records that demonstrate that proficiency testing samples are tested in the same manner as patient specimens
Adhere to the laboratory's quality control policies, and document all quality control activities, instrument, and procedural calibrations and maintenance performed
Follow the laboratory's established policies and procedures whenever test systems are not within the laboratory's established acceptable levels of performance
Be capable of identifying problems that may adversely affect test performance or reporting of test results, and either must correct the problems or immediately notify the Administrative Laboratory Director, Laboratory Supervisor, or LIS Coordinator
Document all corrective actions taken when test systems deviate from the laboratory's established performance specification.
Monitor and complete patient cases in Athena
Complete paperwork, filing, faxing & other administrative tasks as needed
Perform other duties as assigned.
