About The Position

LabCorp is seeking a Medical Lab Technologist to join their team at the Halsey Lab in Portland, OR. This role involves performing routine and complex technical procedures, monitoring and troubleshooting instrumentation, making technical decisions regarding testing and problem-solving, and preparing, testing, and evaluating new reagents or controls. The technologist will report accurate and timely test results to deliver quality patient care, perform and document preventive maintenance and quality control procedures, and assist with specimen processing. Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in a Chemical or Biological Science, Clinical Laboratory Science, or Medical Technology
  • 1 year or more of clinical laboratory testing experience OR a MLS degree
  • High level of attention to detail with the ability to prioritize and multitask
  • Ability to work independently and within a team environment
  • Able to pass a standardized color blindness test
  • Strong communication skills; both written and verbal
  • Comfortable working under minimal supervision

Nice To Haves

  • 1 year or more of clinical laboratory testing experience
  • ASCP or AMT certification

Responsibilities

  • Determine the acceptability of specimens for testing according to established criteria
  • Perform routine and complex technical procedures and functions according to departmental Standard Operating Procedures
  • Monitor, operate and troubleshoot instrumentation to ensure proper functionality
  • Demonstrate the ability to make technical decisions regarding testing and problem solving
  • Prepare, test and evaluate new reagents or controls
  • Report accurate and timely test results in order to deliver quality patient care
  • Perform and document preventive maintenance and quality control procedures
  • Identify and replenish testing bench supplies as necessary
  • Assist with processing of specimens when needed
  • Maintain a safe work environment and wear appropriate personal protective equipment
