About The Position

This job posting is for employment with Corewell Health. Effective January 1, 2026, following the execution of a new agreement between Corewell Health and Quest Diagnostics, this position will transition employment to Quest Diagnostics. While this role will be integral to Corewell Health laboratory operations, employment will be with Quest Diagnostics effective January 1, 2026, contingent upon successful completion of Quest Diagnostics’ pre-employment requirements. Job Summary Performs, interprets and correlates clinical laboratory tests by following departmental protocols to assist in physician diagnosis and treatment. Prepares specimens for testing, screens patient specimens, and analyzes patient specimens for diagnostic and therapeutic purposes. Performs quality control procedures, and assists in maintaining an efficient and effective laboratory operation. May serve as a generalist or as a limited specialist.

  • Bachelor's Degree in related field
  • 1 year of relevant experience in a related field

Responsibilities

  • Operates laboratory equipment and performs functions including: calibration, preventative maintenance, troubleshooting, instrument validation studies, quality control, proficiency testing, and documentation.
  • Reads, interprets and correlates clinical test results with patient history, diagnosis, and clinical condition in order to explain test results.
  • Documents and communicates significant information and special occurrences which may affect test results to the appropriate clinician.
  • Routinely checks supplies and reagents in order to ensure adequate supply levels.
  • Ensures that reagents are properly labeled and dated.
  • Directs work of laboratory assistants or laboratory services representatives and auxiliary personnel as appropriate.
