Summary: Performs blood and body fluid analysis for physician evaluation of patient condition, care, and treatment plan. Participates in quality control plan for the Clinical Laboratory including instrumentation and personnel proficiency. Will act as phlebotomist when needed. May also be asked to cover any shift. Communicates with the Laboratory Medical Director (Pathologist), Manager, Medical Technologist, Medical Laboratory Technicians, Phlebotomists, Nursing, Physicians, and Personnel all quality control outcomes pertinent to regulatory agents, patient specimen analysis, and quality of patient care. Reviews and documents all quality control data pertinent to Clinical Laboratory practices as outlined by Policy and Procedure. May perform administrative Laboratory duties if conditions warrant.

Requirements

  • Associates Degree in applied Science preferred.
  • Six months Generalist experience in a hospital setting preferred.
  • Current ASCP or equivalent preferred but not required.
  • Knowledge of Laboratory regulatory agency standards including JCAHO and CLIA.
