About The Position

MLT is a laboratory professional with a 2-year medical laboratory degree or MT with a 4-year degree. The role involves providing accurate laboratory test results by accepting or obtaining the best specimen possible for the ordered test using proper supplies and/or equipment. The position serves patient needs from all age groups, from neonate through geriatric patients.

Requirements

• Associate's degree from accredited school of Medical Lab Science
• 1 year experience and certification from ASCP, AMT, HHS or equivalent agency preferred.

Responsibilities

• Performs laboratory testing and procedures in any/all areas of the laboratory
• Evaluates results for clinical significance and validity, exercising independent judgment and responsibility with minimal technical supervision, and for recognition of atypical/abnormal results requiring additional follow up.
• Ensures quality control is acceptable and instrumentation is functioning within defined tolerance limits.
• Actively participates in quality improvement activities on an ongoing basis and complies with standard operating procedures.
• Reports timely, accurate test results
• Keeps equipment properly maintained and calibrated.
• Provides direction and assistance to other staff during shift
• Assists ongoing lab review and improvements and other duties assigned by lab manager.
