About The Position

Position Purpose: Performs clinical testing of laboratory specimens to provide accurate and reliable data for clinical assessment of patients. Adheres to MercyOne's performance expectations and performs all defined services and other related duties in accordance with the Mission, Vision and Values of MercyOne. What you will Do: Obtains proper specimens for testing. Performs clinical testing of laboratory specimens and reviews data for clinical correlation. Performs quality control testing on all analyzers and analytes and interprets results. Troubleshoots instrumentation and assays. Adheres to all safety, infection control and colleague health policies and procedures. Based on principles of growth and development, provides care appropriate to the age related needs of the patients served on his/her assigned unit, which may include: Birth-28 days: Neonate 1-18 Months: Infant 18 Mo-3 Yrs: Toddler 3-6 Yrs: Pre-School Aged 6-12 Yrs: School-Aged 12-18 Yrs: Adolescents 18-65 Yrs: Adults 65+ Yrs: Geriatrics Hours/Schedule: Full time, 40 hours Night Shift Ministry/Facility Information: MercyOne Northeast Iowa provides expert health care to eight counties. Requirements

  • Associates Degree: Medical Laboratory Technician program.
  • ASCP eligible and successfully pass certification exam within 6 months of hire or certified Medical Laboratory Technician by ASCP.
  • Mandatory Reporter.
