About The Position

Spring View Hospital is a 75-bed facility offering a full range of services with state-of-the-art technology including pain management, physical therapy, respiratory therapy, behavioral health services, wound care, and laboratory. The position of Acute Medical Lab Technician (PRN) involves performing diagnostic testing on patient samples to aid physicians in the diagnosis and/or monitoring of various disease states. The technician will maintain laboratory records, follow laboratory policies and procedures, and maintain quality control practices in the laboratory.

Requirements

  • Associate of Applied Science degree in Clinical Laboratory Technology, chemistry, Biology or Science.
  • Certified as a Medical Laboratory Technician (MLT) by AMT, ASCP, or NCA.
  • For Medical Laboratory Technicians performing high complexity testing who graduated on or after April 24, 1995: Must have an associate degree in Medical Laboratory Technology or Laboratory Science.
  • For Medical Laboratory Technicians who graduated before April 24, 1995: Must have graduated from an approved or accredited medical laboratory or clinical laboratory training program or have successfully completed at least 50 weeks of official US military medical laboratory procedures course.
  • Education and training equivalent to an associate degree in laboratory science or medical laboratory technology.
  • Laboratory experience preferred.
  • Requires critical thinking skills, decisive judgment, and the ability to work with minimal supervision.
  • Must be able to work in a stressful environment and take appropriate action.
  • Able to communicate effectively in English, both verbally and in writing.

Responsibilities

  • Perform diagnostic testing on patient samples.
  • Aid physicians in the diagnosis and/or monitoring of various disease states.
  • Maintain laboratory records.
  • Follow laboratory policies and procedures.
  • Maintain quality control practices in the laboratory.
