As a Medical Lab Technician, you would be responsible for performing technical procedures which involve accurately assaying various analytes, using a variety of instruments, middleware, computer systems and fully automated systems and non-automated procedures. You will also perform instrument maintenance, reagent preparation, and calibration by conducting various routine instrument checks, cleaning procedures, and replacement of instrument parts, as well as investigating basic instrument malfunctions on analyzers according to a written schedule or verbal instructions. Documenting technical information is essential to produce quality test results. Additionally, you will complete required training, continuing education, and competency assessments, provide information for proper charges, stock supplies, and prepare, inspect, and issue blood and blood products to assure the safety of transfusion to the patient. Each staff member will participate in various tasks required of the section under the direction of the Manager or Lead Tech, including taking inventory, reviewing quality control results, assisting with recommending new methods and equipment, designing and performing new test development, orienting new employees, reviewing and updating section manuals, performing extended preventative maintenance, evaluating new lot numbers of reagents, participating in competency assessments, gathering quality assessment data, assisting with lab computer build and testing, and participating in time keeping for the section. Compliance with Safety Policies, Standards of Employee Conduct, and Laboratory General, Computer and Compliance Policies and Procedures is mandatory.
