About The Position

LMC B-L Primary Care is seeking a Medical Laboratory Technician to perform daily lab tests, patient interviewing, and phlebotomy. The technician will be responsible for compliance with QA and COLA requirements and guidelines, ensuring adherence to health and safety regulatory agencies. The role involves procuring and processing patient specimens for laboratory testing, performing tests accurately and in a timely manner, and reporting test results while managing basic problems as they arise.

Requirements

  • Two-year diploma in Medical Laboratory Science, biological science, or chemistry from an accredited institution.
  • Transcript must include a minimum of 60 semester hours with 25 hours of coursework in clinical laboratory science, chemical and biological science.
  • Clinical laboratory rotation in immunohematology, chemistry, hematology, and microbiology.
  • Medical Laboratory Technician (MLT) certification by ASCP or equivalent state certification.

Responsibilities

  • Perform manual and automated laboratory testing.
  • Collect specimens, including venipuncture and capillary punctures.
  • Evaluate specimen preparation and handling for test analysis.
  • Select, perform, evaluate, and monitor test procedures using manual and/or instrumental techniques.
  • Conduct quality control procedures on equipment, reagents, and products.
  • Recognize and react to indicators of malfunctions and implement corrections.
  • Maintain instruments and perform necessary maintenance.
  • Perform correct notification of abnormal results per policy.
  • Work collaboratively with coworkers, nurses, physicians, and other healthcare workers.
  • Facilitate learning for coworkers and students.
  • Maintain established continuing education requirements for national certification.
