About The Position

Responsible for the analysis of laboratory specimens and subsequent result reporting according to laboratory protocol and procedures.

Requirements

  • Medical Laboratory Technician
  • Current Medical Laboratory Technician license from the State of California Department of Health Services.
  • Minimum1 years experience as a Medical LaboratoryTechnician in a licensed and accredited Acute Care Facility preferred.

Nice To Haves

  • Bachelor's Degree preferred.

Responsibilities

  • As a generalist; performs all routine and other procedures.
  • Correct procedures done and 100% accuracy within procedure limits, and turnaround as stated in the procedure manual.
  • Pending lists are reviewed with proper hand off to the next shift.
  • Follows policies for specimen rejection.
  • Works only within the scope of training and regulation.
  • Performs other duties as assigned by the CLS in charge, supervisor or Director.
  • Sets priorities for the workload to assure that we meet out TAT standards for our ER Initiative and morning draws.
  • Help with venipuncture and specimen processing when needed.
  • 100% compliance with QC protocols for running controls and accepting results.
  • The CLS supervisor/director is always notified of out of control, discrepant or unexpected results in a timely manner.
  • Records are accurate and up to date.
  • Maintains inventory of reagents and supplies.
  • Troubleshoots with the help of the hotline.
  • Troubleshoots with the instrument manual.
  • Able to independently detect and resolve instrument issues.
  • Offers to assist in instrument repairs. e) 100% compliance with instrument maintenance procedures.
  • Demonstrates the ability and willingness to Performance Standard perform clerical functions at the reception area.
  • Able to log in specimens without errors.
  • All tests completed are properly charged.
  • Maintains records in the Laboratory accurately and to Joint Commission Standards.
  • Checks in Pathology specimens, corrects any incomplete orders and verifies proper preservatives.
  • Familiar with all pertinent computer procedures and contingency procedures
  • Verifies that all assigned work is completed 100% of the time. Work under the supervision of a Clinical laboratory Scientist.
