About The Position

To perform laboratory testing for WCHS laboratory.

Requirements

• Medical Laboratory Technician – Must have graduated from an approved school of Medical Technology/Laboratory Science with an Associate’s degree and be certified/registered by one of the following agencies: MLT(ASCP), MLT(AMT), CLT(NCA).
• Medical Technologist – Must have graduated from an approved school of Medical Technology/Laboratory Science with a bachelor’s degree and be certified/registered by one of the following agencies: MT(ASCP), MT(AMT), CLS(NCA).
• Minimum of one year of experience preferred.
• Knowledge of hospital laboratory practices, including infection control requirements, chemical and biological hazards.
• Knowledge of governmental and regulating policies and standards.
• Competency in specimen acquisition
• Must possess the ability to read, write, and speak the English language fluently.
• Must be able to continually and effectively employ professional verbal and written communications skills.
• All applicants will comply with 45 CFR 1301, Subpart D, Section 1301.31, C and D, which require all prospective employees to sign a declaration prior to employment regarding all arrests and convictions of child abuse or violent felonies and to comply with PL 101-630 and PL 101-637 regarding criminal records check.

Responsibilities

• Demonstrate the Winnebago Tribe’s core mission, vision, and values
• Under the direct supervision of the Laboratory Manager, the MT/MLT provides technical support by performing analyses, tests, and procedures that assist in the prevention, diagnosis, or treatment of diseases.
• Accessioning/ ordering tests in the Laboratory Information Systems (LIS) and processing specimens with referral to the reference laboratories.
• Operates, maintains, and calibrates the equipment used to ensure it is operating efficiently and providing accurate results
• Performs basic troubleshooting as needed
• Maintain documentation according to regulatory agencies and write laboratory policies and procedures.
• Exposure to infectious clinical specimens on a regular basis, so adherence to sterilization and infection control procedures is required.
• This position is responsible for using his/her skill, accuracy, proficiency and dedication to work in all laboratory sections performing analytical testing on patient's specimens.
• Candidate must demonstrate excellent customer service skills.
