The Medical Lab Scientist PRN at Intermountain Health is responsible for providing expert laboratory services, focusing on data analysis, study design, and consultation with healthcare professionals. This part-time role involves performing complex tests, maintaining quality control, and contributing to research initiatives, all while ensuring the best clinical practices for patient care.

  • Perform all designated laboratory procedures competently, including Chemistry, Hematology, Urinalysis, Coagulation, Specimen Processing, Blood Bank, and Microbiology.
  • Set up and perform a variety of technical and complex tests following established procedures.
  • Obtain blood specimens from patients and perform bedside testing as needed.
  • Conduct verification tests on new products and instrument/procedure comparisons, including statistical analysis and special projects.
  • Interpret, correlate, and report test results, verifying computer-generated reports.
  • Investigate and address erroneous test values, irregularities, errors, or instrument failures.
  • Document all deviations from established procedures for review by the Manager or appropriate Supervisor.
  • Perform quality assurance and maintenance as required, including quality control documentation.
  • Maintain accurate logs, records, files, and all other required documentation.
  • Assist in the maintenance of CAP accreditation and perform preventive maintenance on instrumentation.
  • Train and orient new employees and maintain supply inventory.
  • Bachelor's Degree in a relevant field (military training and experience may substitute for Bachelor's Degree).
  • Current ASCP or ASCP-I certification and applicable licensure.
  • At least one (1) year of experience in a similar role/setting (preferred).
