About The Position

Saint Francis Hospital Memphis is a 510-bed acute care hospital dedicated to providing high quality, compassionate care to the Mid-South community. As a comprehensive medical center, Saint Francis Hospital Memphis features a broad spectrum of tertiary and acute care, outpatient services and specialty areas including Women's Services, Surgical Services, Bariatric Center of Excellence and Behavioral Health. Other acute care areas include Emergency Room, Critical Care, Med/ Surge and Telemetry. The Medical Lab Scientist II position is a full-time role on the night shift. The role involves processing and testing all types of laboratory specimens, reviewing and reporting lab results, performing operational duties, maintenance and advanced troubleshooting of laboratory instrumentation and equipment, and acting as a resource to other laboratory personnel. Additional responsibilities include assisting with new equipment validation and implementation, employee training and competency assessment, regulatory compliance responsibilities for CAP, TCJ, AABB or other agencies, quality assurance, quality control, and instrument maintenance.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree from an approved college or university and/or graduate of an accredited school of medical technology, or equivalent such as military training.
  • Registered with an approved certifying agency (ASCP, NCA, AMT or CSMLS within 12 months of hire).
  • Equivalency evaluation by ECE, NACES or AICE for non-US trained personnel must be completed within 30 days of hire.
  • Licensure, as required by State.
  • 2 years as a medical technologist in an acute care facility, OR 1 year as a medical technologist in an acute facility and a Master's degree.

Responsibilities
