About The Position

The Medical Lab Scientist I (Generalist) position at Banner Thunderbird is responsible for performing laboratory testing with a high level of technical knowledge and problem-solving skills. This role ensures compliance with laboratory regulations and accrediting agencies while assisting in the collection and processing of biological specimens. The position requires participation in quality assurance activities and contributes to departmental projects and training.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in medical laboratory science/medical technology, or a bachelor's degree in chemical or biological science with certification (MLS or categorical).
• Demonstrated competency in phlebotomy in applicable departments.
• Foreign educated candidates must provide a detailed credential evaluation for eligibility.

Nice To Haves

• MLS/MT or categorical certification (ASCP, AMT, HEW, AAB).
• Basic knowledge of specimen requirements and medical terminology.
• Previous experience with phlebotomy and processing.

Responsibilities

• Perform testing accurately and timely according to established policies and performance standards.
• Monitor and control inventory and assist in providing financial data for the department.
• Participate in training of department employees and assist in new employee orientation.
• Act as a department resource by providing educational information to internal and external customers.
• Process and prepare patient samples ensuring correct patient and specimen identification.
