About The Position

PeaceHealth Riverbend Annex in Springfield OR is seeking a Medical Lab Scientist Certified or a Medical Lab Tech Certified - Core Testing for a part time, 0..8 FTE, evening position. The salary range for this job opening at PeaceHealth for MT is $38.29 - $57.42 and MLT is $31.27 - $46.91. The hiring rate is dependent upon several factors, including but not limited to education, training, work experience, terms of any applicable collective bargaining agreement, seniority, etc. Medical Lab Scientist Job Profile Responsible for performingplex laboratory procedures and tests in areas such as blood bank, chemistry, hematology, immunology and microbiology, using established protocols and procedures. Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree Required: Medical Technology or Clinical Lab Science or Chemistry or Biological Science or an equivalent related science. Must qualify as Medical Technologist under CLIA (42 CFR 493.1489). Preference will be given to candidates who havepleted an accredited laboratory training program. Program or institution must be accredited by a regional or national accreditation agency.
  • Required: Upon Hire Medical Technologist - Medical Laboratory Scientist Medical Technologist or Medical Lab Scientist certification, ASCP or equivalent (AMT, AAB) is required. Accepted certification for non-US citizens includes ASCPi, AMT, or CSMLS.
  • Associate degree in Medical Laboratory Technician from an accredited laboratory training program or equivalent education as defined by CLIA 42CFR493.1489 ·Program or institution must be accredited by a regional or national accreditation agency.
  • Certified Medical Laboratory Technician (MLT) by American Society for Clinical Pathology (ASCP) or American Medical Technologist (AMT)

Nice To Haves

  • 2 years Preferred: Clinical experience performing highplexity testing in a clinical laboratory department
  • 2 years' experience performing highplexity testing in a clinical laboratory department preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Evaluates specimens for testing, utilizes appropriate criteria and upholds established performance standards. Applies established criteria for testing, and analysis of entire process from preparation, conducting test, functioning of devices and procedures to ensure quality test results. Performs waived, moderate and highplexity laboratory tests.
  • Maintains equipment and tools; performs quality assurance testing, routine calibration and ensures optimal performance.
  • May assist Technical Specialist or Supervisor with the evaluations of new methods and and procedures.
  • Consults with clinicians, supervisor and other caregivers as appropriate on test results, requirements and testing protocols.
  • Gives direction and guidance to phlebotomy and specimen management teams, may assist with orientation of new caregivers and students, and assessespetencies.
  • Maintains appropriate records for specimens, tests and data. Utilizesputer systems in reporting and documenting analysis.
  • Participates in department in-services and continuing education programs, attending lectures, workshops and video presentation as required. Participates in requiredpetency assessment and proficiency testing activities. Provides (CAP, HIPAA, etc)pliance support. HIPA, etc) and provides active support.
  • Collects, processes, and performs a variety of moderate and highplexity tests on specimens andplete all documentation for pre-analytic, analytic, and post-analytic activities.
  • Maintains equipment and records, monitors tests and procedures to perform quality assurance activities related to test performance.
  • Gives direction and guidance to phlebotomy and specimen management teams, may assist with department orientation for new caregivers and students
  • Consults with clinicians, supervisor, and other caregivers as appropriate on test results, requirements, and testing protocols.
  • Maintains appropriate records for specimens, tests, and data. Utilizesputer systems in reporting and documenting analysis.
  • Participates in department in-services and continuing education programs, attending lectures, workshops and video presentation as required. Participates in requiredpetency assessment and proficiency testing activities. Provides active (CAP, HIPPA, etc.) support.
  • Performs other duties as assigned by supervisory staff or as delegated by Laboratory Medical Director.
