About The Position

The position is within the PMC Laboratory at Prospect Medical Commons, located in Milwaukee, WI. The role involves collecting and processing blood specimens for testing and performing various clerical and processing functions. The schedule is full-time, 40 hours per week, during the day shift from Monday to Friday.

Requirements

• High School diploma equivalency or 1 year of applicable cumulative job specific experience required.
• Preferred Credential(s): BLS Provider from American Heart Association or American Red Cross accepted.
• Certification specializing in Phlebotomy credentialed from the American Society for Clinical Pathology Board of Certification (ASCP-BOC).
• Phlebotomy Tech certification.
• Medical Laboratory Assistant credentialed from the American Society for Clinical Pathology Board of Certification (ASCP-BOC).
• Medical Laboratory Assistant credentialed from the American Medical Technologists (AMT).
• Tech credentialed from the American Society of Phlebotomy Technicians. All issuing authorities accepted.

Responsibilities

• Collect and process blood specimens for testing and perform multiple clerical and processing functions.
• Set up instruments and maintain, clean, and sterilize equipment and work area following safety, cleanliness, and infection control procedures.
• Receive, centrifuge, accession, process, and transport specimens, verifying all related records.
• May draw and collect blood samples according to policy.
• Order add-on tests, work pending lists, and resolve duplicate orders.
• Perform clerical duties which may include answering phones, reviewing EKGs, collecting patient demographic data for patient registration, ordering tests, reviewing Advance Beneficiary Notice of Noncoverage (ABN), data entry, and filing.
