About The Position

MEDICAL LAB ASSISTANT Join our Medical Laboratory team at Moab Regional Hospital The Lab Assistant is the point-person for providing patient blood draws, assisting with managing Lab inventory and supplies, answering phones and providing test results to patients and Providers, and supporting the Medical Lab Technicians. Equally as important, though, is that the Lab Assistant is fantastic with people—positive, warm, and customer-service oriented. This is a non-exempt, full-time, benefitted position. Anticipated Schedule: Mondays-Thursday 07:30am-6pm Starting Pay Range: $20-$22, DOE.

Requirements

  • Must be highly comfortable with needles and blood and able to put others at ease related to the same.
  • A positive contributor to interpersonal interactions within the laboratory and MRH.
  • Willingness to modify schedule (with advanced notice) to help accommodate time off requests.
  • High level of comfort with technology and ability to successfully complete a range of clerical tasks.
  • Must be effective both as part of a team and while working independently.
  • Must possess strong critical thinking skills and able to respond quickly when situations change unexpectedly.
  • Must be reliable, punctual, emotionally mature, and possess a positive attitude.
  • Excellent customer service and communication skills (oral, written, and listening).
  • This position includes some physical exertion, including moving items weighing up to 20 lbs. on occasion.
  • Ability to work in a confidential manner.
  • Reliable and timely with work schedule.
  • Flexible and willing to accept other duties as assigned, including duties as a CNA.

Responsibilities

  • Act as point-person for providing blood draws to patients of all ages in a variety of settings, including inpatient units, the emergency department and outpatients. Blood draws will include venous draws and heel sticks.
  • Responsible for departmental inventory, including phlebotomy supplies, test tubes, and other items related to the provision of patient care in the laboratory.
  • Provide test results to the appropriate location(s)
  • Provide administrative assistance with faxing and emailing information, answering phones, ordering tests accurately based on provider orders, and supporting the Med Techs in the lab with other preparatory actions, within the scope of training.
  • Have a caring, sympathetic, and soothing bedside manner to individuals that are scared of needles or of having their blood drawn.
