As a Medical Insurance Collections Specialist at HCA Healthcare, you will play a crucial role in ensuring the financial health of our organization by managing the follow-up and collections for patient services. This position is remote, with a preference for candidates who have experience with insurance companies in California and/or Nevada. You will work under the supervision of the Business Office Manager or Business Office Supervisor, focusing on obtaining payments from third-party payers and self-pay accounts to enhance cash flow and ensure reimbursement based on established contracts. Your contributions will directly impact our mission to provide quality healthcare services to our patients. In this role, you will be responsible for performing follow-up activities on accounts to ensure prompt payment. This includes identifying coding or billing errors from Explanation of Benefits (EOBs) and working to correct them. You will monitor insurance claims, contact insurance companies to resolve any issues, and update patient account records to reflect actions taken. Additionally, you will assign bad debt accounts to collection agencies and act as a liaison in administering contracts related to the collection of third-party accounts, including Medicare and Medicaid. Completing account reconciliations for accounts turned over to outside agencies and negotiating payment plans for self-pay accounts will also be part of your responsibilities. Ultimately, you will be tasked with maintaining accounts receivable and creating a reduction in bad debt, contributing to the overall financial stability of HCA Healthcare.
