About the Position: This position is located in the Department of Medicine, Sleep Laboratory Clinic at Evans Army Community Hospital in Fort Carson, Colorado. Requirements

  • Who May Apply: US CitizensIn order to qualify, you must meet the experience requirements described below. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student; social). You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Your resume must clearly describe your relevant experience; if qualifying based on education, your transcripts will be required as part of your application.   • Licensure/Certification: A certified Polysomnography Technologist, Preferred Registration by the Board of Polysomnography Technologists (BRPT) is highly required. Please upload certification. Failure to upload will result in disqualification.
  • Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes conducting comprehensive evaluation and treatment of sleep disorders, including in center and home sleep apnea testing; diagnostic and therapeutic interventions; AND operating, monitoring and maintaining equipment. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-07).

Responsibilities

  • Independently prepares, calibrates, interfaces, and operates all equipment used in polysomnographic procedures.
  • Operates polysomnographic recording instruments to obtain an electroencephalographic record of patients sleep.
  • Prepare the patient for tests reassuring the patient, providing basic education concerning the nature of the testing, allaying fears, or misconceptions.
  • Makes minor repairs and performs operator level maintenance to the equipment used for sleep disorders evaluation.
  • Post calibrates all the equipment used for the polysomnographic procedure.
  • Independently interprets data obtained from all night recording.
  • Perform other duties as assigned
