About The Position

The Medical Instrument-EEG Technician works independently to provide comprehensive evaluation and treatment of neurodiagnostic disorders. This may involve operating EEG equipment in the lab, intensive care units, operating room and at patient's bedside. Performs routine EEG examinations including routine awake and sleep recordings, electrocerebral silence recordings, multiple sleep latency recordings, intraoperative monitoring, evoked potentials, home sleep studies and nerve conduction studies. This announcement is open continuous. Certificates will be issued to the hiring manager on a weekly basis until all positions have been filled. Responsibilities

  • The EEG technologist knows the policies and procedures.
  • Collect, analyze and integrate patient information in order to identify and meet the patient-specific needs (Physical/mental limitations, current emotional/physiological status regarding the testing procedure, pertinent medical/social history), and to determine final testing parameters/procedures in conjunction with the ordering physician or clinical director and laboratory protocols.
  • Complete and verify documentation
  • Explain pre testing and post-testing procedures to the patient
  • While performing all END testing ( EEG, NCV, Evoke Potential or Home sleep study).
  • Prepare and calibrate equipment required for testing to determine proper functioning and make adjustments if necessary
  • Apply electrodes and sensors according to accepted published standards
  • Perform appropriate physiologic calibrations to ensure proper signals and make adjustments if necessary.
  • Follow procedural protocols for all END testing to ensure collection of appropriate data.
  • Verifies identity of the patient
  • Interacts with patient on appropriate for patient's age and cognitive level
  • Follows HIPPA and OSAH standards
  • Uses standard precautions
  • Knows disease processes

  • Pay: Competitive salary and regular salary increases When setting pay, a higher step rate of the appropriate grade may be determined after consideration of higher or unique qualifications or special needs of the VA (Above Minimum Rate of the Grade).
