About the position

The VA Northeast Ohio Healthcare System is recruiting for a Medical Instrument Technician (Diagnostic Ultrasound Technologist). The Medical Instrument Technician (Diagnostic Ultrasound Technologist) will function in Radiology Service. This position is responsible for operating various types of ultrasound equipment and performing high-quality diagnostic scans of soft tissue organs and vessels. The technician will assist the Radiology team during sterile percutaneous needle procedures and apply advanced ultrasound technologies during unconventional scans.

Responsibilities

  • Operate various types of ultrasound equipment to perform diagnostic scans.
  • Assist the Radiology team during sterile percutaneous needle procedures.
  • Utilize advanced ultrasound technologies such as Contrast Enhanced Ultrasound (CEUS) and 3D/4D Volume Imaging.
  • Maintain knowledge of cross-sectional anatomy, physiology, and ultrasound physics.
  • Troubleshoot problems related to the department and image quality.
  • Inform patients regarding imaging protocols and procedures.
  • Participate in on-call coverage rotation.
  • Complete ultrasound worksheets for radiologist interpretation.

Requirements

  • Must be a U.S. Citizen.
  • Proficient in written and spoken English.
  • Must be registered and in good standing with ARDMS credentialing.
  • Basic Cardiac Life Support (BLS) certification required.
  • At least 1 year of experience comparable to GS-08 level in diagnostic ultrasonography services.

Nice-to-haves

  • Registration by Cardiovascular Credentialing International (CCI) is highly desirable.
  • Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certification is desirable.
