About The Position

The Medical Imaging Tank Repair Technician is responsible for the testing, diagnosis, repair, and refurbishment of high-voltage tanks, inverters, and X-ray tubes used in medical imaging systems. This role includes draining and replacing insulating oil, inspecting internal electronic components, repairing or replacing defective parts, and reassembling units to manufacturer and safety standards. The technician works on systems from GE and other major imaging equipment manufacturers.

Requirements

  • Technical degree, vocational training, or equivalent experience in electronics, electrical systems, biomedical equipment, or related field preferred.
  • Experience working with high-voltage systems, power electronics, or medical imaging equipment strongly preferred.
  • Strong understanding of electrical and electronic troubleshooting.
  • Ability to read electrical schematics and technical documentation.
  • Experience with testing equipment such as multimeters, insulation testers, and other diagnostic tools.
  • Mechanical aptitude for disassembly and reassembly of complex equipment.
  • Attention to detail and strong problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to follow strict safety procedures when working with high-voltage systems.
  • Ability to lift and move equipment up to 50 lbs.
  • Ability to stand, bend, and work with tools for extended periods.
  • Ability to safely handle oils, tools, and electrical components.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with GE imaging systems or similar diagnostic imaging equipment is a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Diagnose, test, and repair high-voltage tanks, inverters, and X-ray tubes used in medical imaging equipment.
  • Drain insulating oil from tanks and properly handle and dispose of oil according to safety and environmental regulations.
  • Disassemble high-voltage tank assemblies to inspect internal electronics and components.
  • Troubleshoot and repair defective components including circuit boards, connectors, wiring, and related assemblies.
  • Reassemble repaired units and ensure proper sealing and integrity of the tank system.
  • Refill tanks with new insulating oil using vacuum or pump systems as required.
  • Perform electrical and functional testing to verify proper system operation after repair.
  • Document repair procedures, test results, and parts replaced in accordance with company quality standards.
  • Maintain clean and organized workspaces and adhere to all safety protocols when working with high voltage systems and insulating oils.
  • Assist with refurbishment and testing of components used in GE and other medical imaging modalities (CT, X-ray, Cath Lab, etc.).
  • Collaborate with technical staff and engineers to troubleshoot complex repair issues.
